- I can't get my email to work
First check your email program to ensure that you have the mail server
addresses entered correctly. You should have the following:
- SMTP (Outgoing server) set to smtp.perigee.net
- POP3 (Incoming server) set to pop.perigee.net
- Make sure that in your email program you have your POP3 username set to
your Perigee username, not your email address.
Example:
Real Name: John Q. Doe
Perigee Username: jdoe
Email Address: jdoe@perigee.net
- Error: Can't find the mail server
- This problem occurs when you incorrectly enter the address of the
mail server. Please see number one above and double check to make
sure you have pop.perigee.net as the mail server address.
- I'm not receiving my email from others.
- First double check your settings
- Make sure you tell those sending you email that your email
address is username@perigee.NET It is not an uncommon
mistake for people to email our customers at username@perigee.COM
If they try to send you email at perigee.com it will not work.
- If you have multiple usernames at Perigee, make sure your email program
is configured for the specific username whose email you wish to check.
- My email bounces back to me
- This occurs when you send an email to an invalid address. Our email
server will try to send the email for a specified amount of time.
If it is ultimately unsuccessful it will return the email to the sender.
Email addresses can be case sensitive so make sure you are using the
proper case in addressing your emails.
- My email takes forever to download
- If you have a slow modem it will take some time to download your email.
- If someone sends you an excessivley large attachment it will take a long
time to download to your computer. Email programs can sometimes choke on
large attachments as well. It is not recommended that you send attachments
over one meg through email.
- You should have your email program set up to check for new messages and then
delete them off the server. If you have it set to leave them on the server,
over time they will build up and make you mailbox excessivley large causing
delays in mail downloading.
