Netscape Personal Ed. Setup
You will need some basic information to setup
Netscape Navigator Personal Edition. Once you
have purchased the program, put in disk 1 or CD ROM
and run the setup program. It will ask you for the
following information:
- Primary DNS: 206.229.254.2
- Secondary DNS: 206.229.254.5
- Domain Name: perigee.net
- Email Server addresses:
POP server: pop.perigee.jnet (Incoming)
SMTP server: smtp.perigee.net (Outgoing)
- News server address: news.perigee.net
This is also known as NNTP server.
- Dialup Phone Number is the number you received from us.
- Your Email address is: username@perigee.net
replace username with YOUR username.
- When it asks you if you want a TTY window
at startup tell it NO.
This should be all the information that you
need. When you are ready to get connected
Double Click on your Perigee Dialer Icon.
This will start your dialler and log you in to
Perigee. Once you are logged in, double click on
the Netscape Navigator Icon to start your Web Browser.
Configuring Netscape Email
- Open Netscape Navigator
- Choose the Options button on the bar across the top.
- Choose Mail and News Preferences
- Click on the tab labeled "Servers"
- Set SMTP to smtp.perigee.net
- Set POP3 to pop.perigee.net
- Set POP3 user name to your username (lowercase letters)
- Click on the tab labeled "Identity" tab
- Set your name to your "real" name (as opposed to your user name)
- Set your email to username@perigee.net
That is all there is to it. Close Netscape, dial in to Perigee
and restart Netscape. Go to the Window Menu in Netscape and pull
down to Netscape Mail. This will start the Netscape Email Program.
